Celebrating 15 Years

Update Unfortunately we are now not going to be playing at Adelphi Lads Club, this will now be just Rob Bright

This summer marks 15 years since the three of us started DJing together, so we thought it was right we had some celebrations to mark this anniversary!

It was way back in 2007 when things started with taking over a monthly Friday night in the tiny basement at Jam Street cafe in Chorlton and doing a guest appearance on Paul Hughes and Marc Kets show on Unity Radio. We didn't have any plans to DJ, we were all music lovers with record collections, only TC had really DJed before, so we certainly didn't expect we'd still be doing it 15 years later!

We've been involved in putting out our radio show ever since, We ended up taking over the show on Unity and being part of their FM launch and then had spells on Purple Radio and just putting out a podcast before starting our current residency on Brighton's 1BTN.

We continued our residency at Jam Street for around four years, moving into the bigger bar space upstairs and had some great nights with guests including the likes of Moonboots, Paul 'Mudd' Murphy, Balearic Mike, Kelvin Andrews and many others.

We had then had other residencies in Chorlton at Spoon Inn and De Nada, in addition doing semi-regular nights at Electriks and The Beagle. We also were invited to host a monthly Friday at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds which we continued with for a few years before the logistics of getting to Leeds meant we had to pull out.

One particular highlight over all the 15 years is when The Beagle asked us to put on an event with live acts as part of Chorlton Arts Festival. We were thrilled to get Shawn Lee and Martin Brew (as J-Walk) to join us for what must go down as peak Eighty Six.

In addition to our own nights we've also had some great times over the years doing guest appearances and events and festivals including Aficionado, Akoustik Anarkhy, Independent Manchester Beer Convention, The Trip and Moovin Festivals, Seek Magic Social and many more.

We went a bit quieter for a few years with just the odd guest appearance due to life getting in the way, before last year getting our current residency at Cloudwater's ace pub Sadler's Cat. It really feels like home for us and the Saturday afternoon slot suits us as well.

For our main celebration we're at the great new venue Adelphi Lads Club in Salford on Friday 2nd September 5pm - late, we're getting our extended line up back together for this with Rob Bright joining us for the evening. It's an amazing space and we're chuffed to have been invited to be part of it.

If you can't make it on that night we've got a number of other appearances over the next month or so, hope you can join us to raise a glass to another 15 years (or maybe not).

Here's our appearances over the coming weeks;

Saturday 27th August, Eighty Six at Sadler's Cat, 2-7pm
Friday 2nd September, Eighty Six 15th Birthday at Adelphi Lads Club, 5pm-late
Saturday 24th September, Eighty Six at Sadler's Cat, 2-7pm
Saturday 1st October, Cloudwater IMBC Party, Unit 9 Taproom, 2-7pm
