Kath O'Toole plays Eighty Six

This month we're keeping it in the family, the O'Toole family as we welcome Kath O'Toole to Eighty Six.

Kath first got into buying records at such an early age that when her Dad Ken took her into Probe Records in Liverpool where she could barely see over the counter.  Luckly she managed to catch the eye of a young Pete Burns and after that she never looked back.

Fired up on acid house and with a strong spirit of gothic sonic experimentation Kath became the resident at 'Bang The Box' at Liverpool's Mardi Gras. Every Friday she played alongside some of the biggest underground artists of the time.

JD Twitch (Optimo, Espacio), Harri from the Sub Club and Huggy from Back to Basics all visited the night which proudly boasted 'two floors of sonic abuse' as well as the legendary Bernie Connor in the basement.

A move along the M62 to Manchester saw her take up a new residency at the live indie music venue Night & Day where guest spots at Eyes Down in the old Band on the Wall and the D'Percussion Festival followed.

With a keen ear for the alternative and not afraid to put the cat amongst the pigeons, we're sure Kath will make a great guest down at Jam St.

She also happens to be Jeff from Eighty Six sister but as you can see her CV more than stands up for itself.  Kath  often jokes it was her who got Jeff into music, clubbing and gigs in the first place and although Jeff denies this... diverse musical tastes obviously run in the O'Toole family.

Be great to see you on Friday for a pint and some good times.
