Jam Street, 5th June

This month we’re going back to our roots and bringing you a fellow record collector and music lover.

Carl Richards (London)

Carl's first taste of serious clubbing started in '87 going to Nicky Holloway’s Special Branch Doo's and Rockley Sands/Boscombe bank holiday weekenders. The soundtrack was mainly soul, jazz, hip-hop and early house. Carl soon got bitten by the acid house bug and became a regular at Shoom /The Boy's own parties, The Trip in London’s Astoria and Sunday sessions at Queens/Full Circle near to his home in Slough.

By the early 90’s Carl started venturing up north to Flying at Venus in Nottingham, Back to Basics in Leeds and various clubs in Manchester and Liverpool; where he became friends with TC and Jif. Carl says “ I’ve always been into vinyl but more or less stopped clubbing 10 years ago. I’m now 42 but I just can’t stop buying vinyl… even though I’ve hardly anywhere left to put it.” A few years ago I joined him on one of his regular trips to Tokyo and can vouch that his vinyl addiction is as strong and varied as ever.

We look forward to welcoming Carl to the relaxed surroundings of Jam St and we hope you can join us for what promises to be a memorable night.
