Lonesome Heroes is the third release in Numero Group's Wayfaring Strangers series, as with the two previous releases (Ladies From The Canyon and Guitar Soli) Lonesome Heroes is a compilation of tracks from American singer-songwriters of the 70s and 80s. After an album of female artists and an album of instrumentals this time they have a collection of songs by male artists.
As with the previous compilations Numero Group have concentrated on finding rare tracks with a consistent mood and feeling, most released on small labels and relatively undiscovered. The songs are predominantly sparse folk offerings, centring around the artists' lonely vocals and supported by acoustic guitar. Yet again it's a fine release and if you haven't come across this series before all three albums are well worth checking out.
